Mental Health Expert Raises Concerns About Trump’s Fitness for Office
A well-known psychiatrist, Dr. Bandy Lee, who played a role in editing the book ‘The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump,’ has expressed her belief that Donald Trump is mentally unfit for any job and should be removed from the public eye. Dr. Lee was part of a group of mental health professionals who shared their concerns about Trump’s mental well-being in the book. Their assessment painted a critical picture of his mental stability.
Dr. Lee, a former medical expert at Yale, has voiced her alarm over Trump’s mental state, stating that he is too mentally unstable to hold public office. She further asserts that Trump’s condition has deteriorated since the publication of the book in 2017. Dr. Lee and her colleagues used information from the Mueller Report, which investigated Russian interference in the 2016 election, to conduct a mental fitness assessment of Trump. They primarily relied on reports from his close associates and co-workers to gain insights into his mental state.
Despite their request for an in-person examination, which went unanswered, the mental fitness test was conducted based on available evidence. The results were concerning, with Dr. Lee revealing that Trump was not only unfit to be President but unfit for any job due to his incapacity to make rational decisions.
Trump’s opponent in the race for the Republican Party’s presidential nominee, Nikki Haley, has also raised questions about his mental fitness for office and proposed mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75. However, Dr. Lee emphasizes that age alone should not be the sole determining factor in assessing mental fitness. While the risk of cognitive decline may increase with age, it does not define one’s ability to perform a job. Dr. Lee believes that all presidents and candidates should undergo mental fitness tests to ensure the public’s confidence in their capacity to fulfill their roles.
In response to ongoing discussions about his mental well-being and fitness for office, Trump recently claimed to have taken a mental fitness test and did exceptionally well. However, Dr. Lee’s concerns persist, highlighting the need for a more comprehensive assessment of his mental fitness.
