Tensions in the region escalated significantly with the launch of a cruise missile by Yemen’s Houthi forces that landed near Eilat, Israel. This marks the first time that a projectile from the group has reached Israeli territory.

The Houthi rebels, who are aligned with Iran and known for their relentless drone and missile attacks, have been targeting Israel due to its actions in Gaza. The recent attack near Eilat signifies a troubling increase in the group’s military activities.

The Israeli Defense Forces were able to detect and track the cruise missile, and fortunately, there were no reported damages or casualties as a result of the attack. In addition to targeting Israel, the Houthis also used naval missiles to strike a tanker in the Red Sea flying the flag of the Marshall Islands.

In response to these aggressive actions, the British and American navies have conducted strikes against the Houthis in Yemen. Their objective is to protect maritime routes and ensure the safety of international waters against further provocations from the group.

Yemen continues to face a devastating civil war, with the Houthis in conflict with a government that is supported by Saudi Arabia and Western nations. A former U.N. envoy has cautioned that the attacks by the Houthis will persist unless there is a resolution to the Gaza conflict.

Alongside these strategic attacks, a heartbreaking incident occurred when Houthi forces destroyed a family home southeast of Sanaa, resulting in the tragic loss of at least nine lives.
