Marjorie Taylor Greene Praised for Securing $9.3M Funding for Her District After Opposing Bill
Recently, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene garnered attention for voting against a federal funding package and later celebrating the significant funds her district received from the same bill. She had criticized the bundling of bills into a “minibus” but later highlighted the positive outcomes for her constituents.
Greene initially expressed concerns about government spending levels and specific allocations in the funding package, including those for the Department of Justice. However, she quickly shifted her stance after federal funds were successfully allocated to various projects in Northwest Georgia.
Projects such as an airport expansion and a new water treatment facility in her district received nearly $9.3 million in earmarks. Despite her initial opposition, Greene proudly shared the news of securing these funds with her constituents.
This strategy of opposing federal spending publicly while ensuring district benefits privately is not unique to Greene. Many conservative House representatives have utilized this tactic, which Democrats often refer to as “vote no, take the dough.”
Additionally, Rep. Boebert has also taken similar actions in the past by opposing legislation that resulted in significant earmarks for her district. She received close to $20 million in funding despite her initial objections, showcasing a common practice among lawmakers.
